So I've parameter my BIOS so that it use UEFI only and I've formatted my HDD (SSD PCIe) to GPT with the commands below via diskpart from Windows 10 media : select disk 0įormat quick fs = ntfs label = 'Windows RE tools'įollowing, I've tried to install Windows 10 choosing options 'Repair' and 'Reinitialize your PC without keeping files', and from here the message 'A drive partition required is missing' is shown. After W10 has finished installing, you can explore the Windows.old folder and go to your old user profile and copy and paste the files you need to. Just let W10 install over the current C:\ partition where Windows is now, and it will create a Windows.old folder. I equally want to use UEFI rather than 'Legacy BIOS'. When you go to install W10, DO NOT delete any partitions or format the hard drive. Starting from zero, rather than to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10, I want to format and install Windows 10. That will be more clean !
I've just received a brand new DELL PC preinstalled in Windows 7 and shipped with a Windows 10 media.
